Panos Bothos was born in Athens, and today still lives in the capital. In 1992, he was awarded a sound engineering diploma from Panavision, and has since been working as sound engineer and music producer, specializing in the mastering of new albums and remastering, restoration and digitization of old masters in new, physical or digital, reproduction means (CD, LP, streaming).
Since 1995, Panos has been working as chief sound engineer and mastering expert for
Minos EMI – Universal Music Group. He is also the director of the company’s archive, which is the largest private music archive in the country that includes music produced by Universal Music Group for companies in Greece over the last century (e.g. EMI, Columbia, Minos, Parlophone, Harvest, Capitol Records, Regal, Margophone). The archive includes more than 40.000 masters in magnetic analogue form (mono – stereo), multitracks, dat, 33-45rpm mothers and so forth.
Over the last 30 years, Panos has collaborated with several studios and production companies (e.g., Tracks, ArtTracks, Mythos, MadHat Music) as well as numerous artists of the contemporary music scene, such as Ilias Liougkos, Alkinoos Ioannidis, Alexia, Miltos Paschalidis, Pyx Lax, Stavento, Kyrios K, 1550, Pulse. and Sillyboy’s Ghost Relatives. In 2016 the single “Confessions”, featuring the ex-Archive singer Craig Walker, that Panos produced (Pulse.) won the nationwide competition Jumping Fish.
Overall, his portfolio counts more than 2000 masters, including all EMI classics published in Greece as well as works of acclaimed Greek composers and artists such as Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hadjidakis, Stavros Xarchakos, Yannis Markopoulos, Vasilis Tsitsanis, Pavlos Sidiropoulos, George Dalaras, Yannis Parios, Haris Alexiou and Nana Mouskouri.
